PARC – CPC`s TRAININGS IN QARYUT & JALUD/NABLUS

Strengthening Community Resilience

PARC within AVCS program supports the creation and training of Community Protection Committees (CPCs), made up of local volunteers from different sectors of the community.

These committees are trained to identify risks, respond to emergencies and develop local protection and disaster risk reduction plans.
By building local capacities and working closely with institutions and municipalities, this approach strengthens community preparedness, coordination and long-term resilience.

#PARC Concludes Training and Hands Over Equipment to Community Protection Committees in Qaryut and Jalud
The Agricultural Development Association (PARC) as a partner in the Action Group has concluded a series of training and awareness-raising workshops for community protection committees in the towns of Qaryut and Jalud which covered important topics across 56 training hours at both locations, including: disaster and risk reduction; firefighting; women’s rights to land and property ownership; first aid; monitoring, documenting & reporting violations; lobbing & advocacy and campaigning; and the role of human rights defenders. This is to be aimed for building the members’ capacities and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the risks facing local communities.

Additionally, the committees were provided with equipment and tools to assist them in performing their duties and enhancing their readiness to handle risks like Advanced first aid kits, stretchers, dry powder fire extinguishers, a ladder, a gasoline-powered tree pruner, and leather fire-beaters.

The training helped raise participants’ awareness regarding prevention and response mechanisms and improved their ability to monitor and address both human-induced and natural risks. It also strengthened the committees’ role in protecting their communities and responding to their needs.
This intervention is part of efforts to support rural communities, enhance their resilience against risks and challenges, and mitigate the impact of violations affecting the targeted areas.

Specialized and highly experienced lawyers were engaged to address four relevant topics, alongside an ambulance officer and the Palestinian Civil Defense, to conduct the training sessions.

The activity falls under the Protection and Humanitarian Action Program—funded by Agencia Vasca de Cooperación y Solidaridad (AVCS); Estrategia marco (humanitarian programme) (EM) through Bakerako Lankidetza Batzarrea/Asamblea de Cooperación por la Paz en Euskadi (BLB/ACPP) and implemented in partnership with the Action Group; PHG & PSCCW—which focuses on supporting the most vulnerable agricultural communities and strengthening their resilience and capacity to respond to risks. Training and equipping protection committees represents a practical step toward enhancing community preparedness and empowering residents with the tools and knowledge needed to prevent and manage risks; this supports the protection of individuals, property, and land, and strengthens the resilience of local communities.
